About

The Honest Truth Online seeks to bring you important and interesting information from the political world with a humorous point of view and an eye for what is truly important. Mindlessness has gripped the so called “Generation X” in a way that hasn’t been seen since the 60s. We seek to combat this plague with solid information and logical analysis, served up with a dash of satire - the main things missing from the liberal mindset.

Jared:

I’m a conservative journalism student at Patrick Henry College in Virginia. Those facts together put me in almost the same category as unicorns or dragons. There just aren’t a whole lot of conservatives under 30 out there.  Add journalism student to your qualifications and you just brought the number down to a bare handful. Rest assured, unlike the dragons and unicorns, I do exist.

I am, first, an “evangelical Christian” (if those words have meaning anymore). To put it more clearly, I have come to know God and He is now the most important part of my life. I believe the Bible to be His inerrant word, and that His son died for my sins on the cross. I am His child before all else.

Second, I am a conservative. I would say libertarian, except that description fits me only loosely. I have come to many of the same conclusions for some very different reasons. (Though I would note I am not an isolationist by any means.) In general, I believe in small government, low spending, not very many rules, and personal responsibility. If there are three categories of conservative, (economic, social and foreign policy) I would fit into all three categories. I find the constitution, as written by the founders of our country, to be a very nearly ideal form of government, though I think that the way we follow it is far from ideal, especially for the past century.

Third, I am a journalist. In my case, that means I see what is going on, pick out the parts I think are important, and tell people about them. The term does not (hopefully) bring with it many of the negative connotations it has taken on in recent years, especially in the eyes of conservatives. My promise to readers: First Principles

I also happen to be a college student, thankfully at a place where most of my fellow students are not quite as young and foolish as they are at most colleges (young yes, but not foolish.) Patrick Henry College really is the exception to the rule, and I’m glad to be here. I currently have an AA in Mass Media and another in Multimedia from the community college in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where went to college before coming to Patrick Henry to work on my BA, also in Journalism.
